Welcoming a new senior manager and senior policy and legal advisor
The Policy, Regulation and Research Division (PRRD) is pleased to announce that Poonam Bhatti has taken on a senior management position in our division. She holds a law degree from the University of Victoria and a master's degree in library and information studies from the University of British Columbia. Poonam joined WorkSafeBC in 2007 as a research analyst, making key contributions to many complex occupational health and safety regulation projects. Quickly promoted to policy analyst and then senior policy analyst, she also contributed to special projects in the area of complaint tracking and resolution, as well as the Macatee report.
The newest member of the PRRD team is Mariana Storoni, who joins us as a senior policy and legal advisor. In 2008, she joined WorkSafeBC in the regulatory practices department as a senior prevention advisor, after working at Lawson Lundell law firm for two years. Mariana graduated from the University of British Columbia with degrees in law and chemistry. Mariana is keen to apply her skills and professional experience to the complex work the PRRD does.
"Both Poonam and Mariana have impressive skill sets," says Lori Guiton, director of the PRRD. "Poonam’s knowledge and expertise will serve her well in her new management role and Mariana's prevention experience complement the talents and capabilities of our staff. I'm excited to work with them as they take on the challenges of their new roles."
