Amendments to broaden the definition of firefighter took effect on May 16, 2019.
Many amendments to the OHS Regulation took effect on June 3, 2019. Employers should review the amendments carefully to see which changes apply to their workplaces. The updates affect numerous sections, on topics including:
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Concrete falsework and formwork
  • Blasting
  • Personal flotation devices (PFDs)
An OHS policy relating to concrete falsework and formwork has been amended, effective June 3, 2019, consequential to amendments to the OHS Regulation.
On June 3, 2019, numerous guidelines were revised, retired, or issued on a range of topics including:
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Hearing protection
  • Blasting
  • Firefighting standards
