Proposed policy amendments regarding permanent psychological disability benefits

Our Policy, Regulation and Research Department is releasing a discussion paper, with options and draft policy, on permanent psychological disability benefits.

Where an injury, mental disorder, or occupational disease results in a permanent psychological impairment, WorkSafeBC may provide a worker with permanent disability benefits. Our policy provides guidance on the procedures to determine a worker’s permanent psychological disability benefits.

At issue is whether WorkSafeBC should amend our policy to remove procedures specific to determining permanent psychological disability benefits, including referral of claims to the Psychological Disability Committee.

The discussion paper as well as information on how to provide feedback can be found here:

Proposed policy amendments regarding permanent psychological disability benefits

You’re invited to provide feedback on the options until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022. WorkSafeBC’s Board of Directors will consider stakeholder feedback before making a decision on the proposed policy.
