The future of exoskeletons: long-term applications The feasibility of exoskeletons in the workplace is still in its early stages, with user acceptance and usability being crucial for successful implementation. As exoskeleton technology evolves, it's important to assess how these devices perform in real work environments by understanding the interactions between all elements in the work system, not just controlled research settings. Current studies are limited in understanding the long-term effects of regular exoskeleton use, including the potential to increase injury to other body parts, physiological impacts, and the risks of over-reliance. Further research, and development of standards and guidelines are needed to determine their effectiveness in dynamic, complex work systems. While exoskeletons show promise in reducing workplace musculoskeletal injuries (MSIs), eliminating and minimizing MSI risk factors should be prioritized in the risk management process.
